JEWISH MUSIC COMMISSION
The only organization of its kind in the United States,
The Jewish Music Commission of Los Angeles was founded in 1982 through
a grant from the Board of Directors of Valley Beth Shalom, a Conservative Jewish
synagogue in Encino, California. With international competitions and festivals
held in the Los Angeles area, we create new opportunities for the performance
of Jewish music, encourage the composition of Jewish music for the synagogue
and for the community at large, and bring Jewish music to new audiences. Through
seminars and classes, we offer educational programs for those composers who
wish to enhance their knowledge to write authentic new Jewish music.
