Cantor Herschel Fox
Cantor Herschel Fox
Cantor Herschel Fox shared his knowledge, talent, and Yiddishkeit with VBS for more than 40 years! Beloved Cantor Fox was born in Europe and raised in Winnipeg, Canada among Holocaust survivors. He spent his childhood in the dual world of Yiddish cultural life and European Orthodox Judaism, and became a cantor at the age of 13.
He was Cantor at Temple Shalom in Connecticut and performed in Yiddish theater and for Jewish organizations in the New York area. Cantor Fox taught VBS classes in Mamaloshen, Yiddish culture/song, davening and the art of the cantor. He directed the VBS children’s Chazzanut (cantorial) class and hosted Shabbat Farbrengen services. His legacy will always remain within the heart and soul of our VBS community!
