Shalom ECLC Parents,
I hope you had a delightful Hanukkah, filled with joy, warmth, and of course, lots of delicious food shared with friends and family.
A Taste of Tradition in the Cooking Academy
This week at our Cooking Academy, we embraced Sephardi/Mizrachi traditions, exploring the rich culinary heritage of these vibrant Jewish communities. Since Morah Shana was out this week,, I had the privilege of teaching the class on Sunday, and decided to introduce various versions of Latkes, including a special recipe from my late mother. Her unique Iraqi latkes featured a mix of shredded potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, green onions, and zucchini (for the authentic Iraqi flavor, you should add chopped parsley too). The enthusiasm from the kids (and a few of you who tried them) was heartwarming. I believe my mom would have been proud 🙂. On Tuesday, Morah Limor stepped in as a substitute and prepared Moroccan-style donuts called "S'finge." They were absolutely scrumptious, adding another layer of cultural richness to our Hanukkah celebrations. Hanukkah is a time for family and traditions, and it's these unique customs and heritages that we pass down to our children which make the holiday so special. What is your favorite holiday family tradition?
ECLC Hanukkah Community Event
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us on Tuesday evening for our ECLC Hanukkah Community candle lighting, Shira, and ceremony. It was truly magical to gather as a community. The array of unique and special Hanukkiot on display was a sight to behold. For a glimpse into this wonderful evening, click HERE to view photos from the event.
As we transition from Hanukkah into the forthcoming holiday season, let's continue to embrace and share our cherished traditions. In the spirit of unity and hope that Hanukkah inspires, let us also keep in our thoughts and prayers the safe return of all hostages to Israel. We hope for peace and security for the Israeli soldiers and the people of Israel during these challenging times.
Am Israel Chai!
