Educational Leadership and Community Engagement:
These past two weeks have been incredibly enriching for me professionally and inspirationally. I had the privilege of participating in two significant conferences that brought together educational leaders across various platforms.
Local and National Conferences:
LA Jewish Federation and BJE Conference in LA: I joined day schools, Hebrew schools, and camp directors from all over Los Angeles to discuss crucial topic of Israel Education, antisemitism, and ways we can support our students, their families, and our teachers during these challenging times.
Hebrew At The Center Fellowship in Atlanta:
This first Year-Round Fellowship for Senior Educators from around the nation was an opportunity to explore innovative methods to infuse Hebrew into our schools and communities. Hebrew is not only the living language of the State of Israel but also a vital connector of Jews through our shared history and traditions. It offers a unique way to engage students with their heritage socially and culturally, beyond just reading skills in a way to strengthen their jewish Identity.
Tikkun Olam in Action:
7th Grade's Social Enterprise Field Trip: This Sunday, our 7th graders embarked on their 6th field trip of the year, visiting businesses that prioritize community support. These enterprises focus on employing local residents and enhancing community welfare, providing practical examples of social entrepreneurship and ways to do Tikkun Olam.
Getting Ready for Passover:
Back at school, our students are diving deep into the traditions of Passover. From learning the Seder order and the significance of the Seder plate items/simanin, to singing 'Ma Nishtana' and participating in a Mock Seder, our classrooms are buzzing with activity. See above for 3rd grade's impressive Seder demonstration!
