Shalom ECLC Families, This week has been filled with the joyous celebrations of Sukkot, as our community came together to experience the beautiful traditions of this meaningful holiday. Shalom ECLC Families,

This week has been filled with the joyous celebrations of Sukkot, as our community came together to experience the beautiful traditions of this meaningful holiday. The spirit of "HaChnasat O'rchim" (welcoming guests) was truly alive in our school!

A Special Visit in Our Sukkah

We were honored to welcome Rabbi Feinstein, who shared the touching story of Rabbi Pinchas and taught us that "Everything is connected to Everything Else." This concept of unity, or "Echad," beautifully complemented our students' exploration of the S’hema prayer. Our children discovered how this interconnectedness applies to their own lives and the world around them.

Our Honored Guests: Ushpizin & Ushpizot

Each day of Sukkot, we welcome special guests who embody important virtues:

The Four Species (Arbaat Haminim):

Each of the Four Species carries deep symbolic meanings and represents different types of people, based on their qualities of Torah and good deeds:

Community Celebrations

The highlight of our week was our "Pizza in the Sukkah" event yesterday, which is quickly becoming a cherished ECLC tradition. So many of our families gathered to enjoy Cantor Rafii Shira in the Sukkah, followed by Pizza dinner for all. It was truly heartwarming to see new friendships forming and our community growing stronger.

The lessons of Sukkot—unity, friendship, and interconnectedness—will continue to guide us throughout the year. Just as our ancestors found shelter in temporary dwellings, we find strength in our permanent bonds as a community. Thank you to everyone who participated in and supported our Sukkot celebrations. Your involvement makes our community stronger and more vibrant.

A Moment of Reflection

As we approach Simchat Torah, we must pause to remember that it has been 383 days since the attack on Israel last Simchat Torah. With 101 hostages still in captivity and ongoing conflicts in the north and south, we keep the hostages, Israeli soldiers, and all of Am Israel in our prayers.

COOKING ACADEMY WAIVER REQUIRED

Dear Cooking Academy Parents,

We are so excited for your child (and you!) to participate in our experiential, hands-on Cooking Academy at our ECLC.

In partnership with the Culinary Judaics Academy, ECLC students will participate in Jewish learning through CJA's Cook & Learn workshops, facilitated by our teachers, as each workshop contains an engaging 12-20 minute video lesson (led by Chef Danny Corsun and his daughter Zoey), an associated recipe for your child to follow, and the supplemental written curriculum for deeper Jewish learning. Each class will be accessing different workshops throughout the year, and there will be opportunities for you to cook and learn as a family at home, too!

In addition to the cook-and-learn workshops, your family will also have access to CJA’s Community Hub, where you can access monthly Live Zoom cook-along workshops led by Chef Danny Corsun. Look for monthly invitations to sign up!

Series That Will Appear in Your CJA Library:

  • Kitchen / Jewish Cornerstones
