High Holiday Parking & Security
Parking, Tickets and Security
We can't wait to welcome you for the High Holy Days
Parking and Rideshare Information
Sinder Lot (Between Densmore and Gloria, south of Moorpark)
The Sinder Lot entrance is located on Densmore Ave, north of Ventura Blvd. Please be courteous when entering and exiting this lot. Second Service attendees will not be permitted to park until all the cars from First Service have left. Tandem parking is mandatory to accommodate the maximum number of vehicles. The “first” car to park in a tandem space MUST pull all the way in. If you park behind another car in a tandem space, you MUST leave your keys in your car. If you drive a Tesla, you MUST provide a key card so that parking attendants can move your car. Without a key card, Teslas will not be allowed to park in the lot.
Street Parking
Certain street parking restrictions are "relaxed" in the neighborhood during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. The City of Los Angeles will not enforce street cleaning, time limits or preferential parking restrictions on the following streets in our neighborhood: 4300 to 5000 blocks of Densmore Ave; 4600 to 5000 blocks of Gloria Ave; and 15800 block of Moorpark St. However, please note: Meters, Tow Zones, Hydrants and other SAFETY VIOLATIONS will be enforced. Meters on Ventura and on Densmore must be respected. Please do not block our neighbors' driveways when street parking.
Overflow Parking - October 3, 11, 12 ONLY
On Rosh Hashanah Day One (10/3 ), Kol Nidre (10/11), and Yom Kippur day (10/12) , overflow parking will be directed to level P4 of the underground lot in the Encino Terrace Office building located between Gloria and Densmore at 15821 Ventura Blvd. Take a parking ticket and have it validated at the Information Table in the VBS Main Hallway.
Parking Accommodations and Valet Parking
For Disabled Drivers and VBS Premier Members
A limited amount of disabled parking will be available in the Sinder Lot. Two golf carts driven by a parking attendant will be available for those needing assistance crossing Densmore. VBS is pleased to provide complimentary Valet Service ONLY for drivers with valid, state-issued disabled parking placards and to VBS Premier Members with a Valet Pass.
Please note: There is no Valet Service on Erev Rosh Hashanah or Rosh Hashanah Day Two.
To Drop Off: Pull your car onto Densmore Ave just south of the Security Booth on the east side of the street.
For Pick Up: The waiting area for valet pick up is now in the Reznik Lot (next to the two gray sheds), instead of the Moorpark Street greenway.
Signs will be posted for Valet Drop Off and Pick Up areas. Please note that Valet Pick Up may take additional time after services.
Rideshare Suggestions
Due to limited parking during High Holy Days, we urge you to carpool or ride with others to travel to VBS. Please consider using transportation services such as Uber or Lyft to assist in reducing traffic congestion and helping us improve parking accommodations. Drop Off/Pick Up for rideshare services will be on Densmore (north of Ventura).
For Kol Nidre and Yom Kippur, VBS will cover $5 towards all rides through Lyft.
Valley Beth Shalom has partnered with GoGoGrandparent, an affordable transportation concierge that works with Uber and Lyft, to offer $5 off rides to and from Valley Beth Shalom. Call or place your ride request online. 1-855-GOGO-USA (1-855-464-6872). gogograndparent.com/valleybethshalom
Tickets and Seating
Tickets and matching photo ID are required for entry to all VBS High Holy Day services. Please keep your ticket with you at all times. No adults will be admitted through VBS security without a valid ticket and matching photo ID. If you arrive without a ticket, you will need to obtain a Will Call ticket from our Will Call tent, which is located just north of our entry gate, at the driveway of the first home north of the main entrance.
Except for areas in Main Services designated for VBS Premier Members, all seating is open and unassigned (non-reserved). We encourage you to explore our different service options!
Security
There is nothing more important to us than ensuring the safety and security of every person who enters our holy space. This year, we will be implementing the following security measures:
- To enter VBS, every ticket holder will be required to present a ticket along with a matching photo ID, and then pass through our state of the art Evolv Security System.
- All bags, including purses, diaper bags, strollers and tallit bags will be checked. Please avoid bringing oversized bags or backpacks as this may delay your entrance time. We encourage you to arrive early to allow time for parking and security check in.
Health and Safety
Please use common sense etiquette to maintain a healthy and safe environment for all our congregants and guests. We are partners in caring for one another. We request that those experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms stay home. We remain vigilant and cautious in caring for our most vulnerable community members.
Reminders and Notes
- Please do not use your cell phones while in the synagogue.
- TURN OFF RINGERS while in services.
- Please hold your applause during services.
- Do not enter services during Rabbi’s sermon. Exhibit courtesy and wait until after the sermon is concluded to enter the service.
- Please stay clear of the doorways in service spaces. Do not gather in walkways as this creates congestion. Entryways must remain open for safety and security.
- Please park strollers in the designated Stroller Parking areas.
